2010 WASTE MANAGEMENT SERVICES
OFFERED TO
FLUSHING TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS
Waste Management will pick up “normal household
waste items” on a weekly basis.
All items are to be placed at the curb by 6:00
a.m. on collection day.
Recycle Waste Management accepts
#1 & #2 plastic only, clear, brown, green glass,
aluminum and tin, newspapers, phone books,
magazines/junk mail, mixed office paper, box
board and corrugated cardboard. Recycle bins
can be picked up at the Twp Hall.
Yard Waste Yard waste can be taken in 32 Gallon containers
marked as yard waste or use the brown paper
compost bags. There is a limit of 20 bags or
cans per week.

No charge for bulk pick up. All bulky items include,
but not limited to, the following:
*Freon based items - Customer's are
encouraged to call in freon based items. They may be
placed to the curb after our truck has already ran
by. Then we will have 5 to 7 business days to pick
up from the date that the ticket was placed.

Bulk items will be picked up the same day as trash. These items do
not need to be called into Waste Management.
Freon-based appliances take from 5-7 days to be
picked up.
Carpeting
Less than 4 feet long, rolled and bundled or tied,
and less than 50 lbs per roll
Cardboard
Cardboard boxes may be placed out for pickup,
flattened and

bundle into stacks. May be tied
with twine to secure. Cardboard should be no longer
or wider than 3 feet and flattened.
Computers
Computer monitors, desktops, and printers are all
allowed at no extra charge as long as there is no
more than 1 complete unit (monitor,
desktop, and printer). Additional items or larger
office equipment require bulk item handling if
heavier than 50 lbs.
Automotive Tires
Whole tires are not acceptable to collect as trash
in Michigan landfills effective November 1, 2004
under Michigan Public Act 34. Please advise
customers to check with a local tire store or their
DPW (Department of Public Works) for disposal
options. If a customer inquires about cutting a
tire in half, advise them that you first recommend
they call a retail establishment that sells tires
because cutting a tire in half is difficult and a
potentially dangerous process. If tires are cut in
half, MAXIMUM 4 halves per week (2 tires).

Non-Collectable
Products such as insecticides, oil, gas, propane
tanks, antifreeze, concrete, gravel, dirt, sod,
rock, stones, stumps, any car parts, car batteries,
riding mowers, cement (even if attached to
something), bricks, roofing shingles, paint cans
with paint still in it, and similar items are also
unacceptable.
